A year ago, I fell into the category of people who really wanted to like kombucha but just couldn’t quite get into it. The vinegar taste is so strong at first, right? Somewhere along the way, as I continued to try different brands and flavors, a flip was switched and I become suddenly and completely obsessed with it. I even debated trying to make it at home to save money but that just looks way too complicated for my life right now. Maybe one day.
Anyways, when the idea of putting kombucha in a smoothie first presented itself to me, I JUMPED on it. Skeptical at first, I instantly fell in love with it. If kombucha was cheaper, I think that it would be in every single one of my smoothies. It adds a very lovely fizz and kick to a smoothie that I’m a bit in love with.
And if you’re not a kombucha fan, sorry. I suppose today’s post just isn’t for you. (But consider trying it anyways! Maybe you’ll be surprised!…?).
Technically today is the last day of “Plantuary” but I really hope to keep the whole foods, plant based recipes coming at you on a weekly basis. I’ve really enjoyed it AND came up with SO many ideas for the month that I could probably keep it going all year. But, also, chocolate still exists, so :) We need a little chocolate around here, right?
In the meantime, I’m going to keep sipping on this Blueberry Kombucha Smoothie. I tried this exact recipe with spinach in it and it tastes great. In fact, it tastes exactly the same….just green. I think the crazy green color of smoothies is hard for people to get past sometimes, but once you do, it’s a great way to get some extra nutrients into your daily diet!
That’s all for today, folks. I hope that you have a lovely Tuesday! It’s a beautiful day here in Nashville :)
